Botswana Rugby Women’s committee member Fatma El-kindiy has been appointed to the continental body, Rugby Africa’s Women’s Rugby Advisory Committees sub committee on Player Welfare and Participation. The appointment came about from her influence and increase awareness through social media, the use of sports as a tool and platform to tackle issues that plague women such as gender based violence. She has also participated in initiatives in the quest to grow girl’s rugby regardless of age, religion, race.

The main objective of the subcommittee is to increase the number of registered women players to 40% by 2025 in Africa. This will be done through different forums including social media, radio, newspapers and participating in different activities around the country.
